About ten days before our concert, we asked Kathy Boyd if she would be willing to assume the responsibility on such short notice. We were relieved and honored when she accepted.
To her great credit, she researched Laura's House and the cause for which Laura's House was formed. . . specifically the death of Laura McGee Whitson and her daughters. She continued her research to include domestic violence in general and it's impact on families and our society. She studied the performing groups and their individual biographies.
With that knowledge, she hosted our concert with grace, sympathy and intelligence. Her own personable style and sense of humor was also clearly evident in her performance and she has an uncanny ability to connect with the audience at a personal level.
As an emcee, she was prompt, efficient, flexible and professional. She asked questions before the event and arrived early to familiarize herself with the venue and the scheduled performers. Her grooming and dress were appropriate to the occasion and impeccable. As an added bonus, she is pure "eye candy" with a brain, a smile that lights up an entire stage and a quick wit and style that captivates and charms the audience, the staff and performers alike.
